Yosemite Rainbows in Waterfalls
During certain times of the day, rainbows can be seen in the waterfalls.
Yosemite is not just a great valley, but a shrine to human foresight, the strength of granite, the power of glaciers, the persistence of life, and the tranquility of the High Sierra.
First protected in 1864, Yosemite National Park is best known for its waterfalls, but within its nearly 1,200 square miles, you can find deep valleys, grand meadows, ancient giant sequoias, a vast wilderness area, and much more.
I'm a sixth-generation California Native but up until 2021, I had never been to Yosemite. That is almost a sacrilege being that I'm a photographer, growing up in California, and now only living a 3-hour drive away! I finally went in February when my husband planned the trip for our anniversary to witness and experience the Fire Fall at Horse Tail Falls. After that, I have been back four times in four months. Yosemite has cast its spell on me like it has so many others. On those trips, I try to witness and capture wonderful new phenomena that make Yosemite special. From the wildlife, the rainbows and moonbows in the waterfalls, full moons, fire falls, alpenglow, ice, snow, wildflowers, sunbeams, and weather patterns I want to see and capture it all! Countless photographs have been snapped in Yosemite, especially by the great Ansel Adams. While I capture the iconic wide-angle compositions and add my flair, I also document the more intimate landscapes, the little details the things you would only see if you were there with me on that each day at that exact moment.
